Raising awareness of critically endangered species.
The Wildlife Protection Map (WPM) highlights species that are dangerously close to extinction. The critically endangered label is the highest risk category on the IUCN Red List, being just one step away from extinction.
There are around 10,500 species in this category today. Many of them receive little public attention or conservation support, even though their loss could trigger serious ripple effects for ecosystems and local communities.
Making it easier to find and learn about them is the first step for protection, and that’s WPM current aim.
Browse key information about species, including their conservation status, specific threats like habitat loss and poaching, and their urgent conservation needs.
